Provincial jail escapee rearrested in Pikit
PIKIT, North Cotabato -- A team of police led by Chief Inspector Romy Castañares of the Pikit municipal policeand agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested on Tuesday Rolly Anok, one of more than a hundred inmates who escaped from the provincial jail in Kidapawan City during a jailbreak in early January.Castañares said the operation that resulted in the arrest of Anok was carried out with the help of vigilant barangay residents and community elders.Castañares said Anok shall be returned to the provincial jail, where he was detained for trafficking of methamphetamine hydrochloride, most known as shabu. Castañares said they will prosecute Anok separately for possession of an unlicensed pistol that was recovered from him when he was nabbed last Tuesday.More than 100 inmates fled the provincial jail in Barangay Amas on January 4 this year after armed men rescued a drug lord, Melvin Casangyao. His rescuer was Esmael Nasser alias Commander Derby who was killed in police operation last September.Casangyawo allegedly paid Nasser PHP1 million to rescue him and another PHP1 million once he was out of the jail facility.
