COTABATO CITY – The Cotabato City police office have made public the cartographic
sketch of a man who murdered an ophthalmologist here last week.

Senior Supt.
Victor Valencia, Cotabato City police director, presented to the media Saturday
the computerized facial composite of the gunman who killed Dr. Shajid Jaja
Sinolinding in his clinic in this city at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Valencia said
the suspect facial composite was made with the help of about seven witnesses
who saw the gunman leaving Sinolinding clinic after he shot the eye doctor and
his escort, Mohammad Ismael.

The suspect, about
5’8 in height, medium built and about 30 to 35 years old, was wearing a brown
hooded sweat shirt and maong pants when the killing took place.

We believed
he has an accomplice, Valencia said of the gunman who posed as eye patient.

Valencia said
anybody who has information may contact the Cotabato City police office or any
police officer.

its voices in protest against the slaying of Ophthalmologist Dr. Shahid Jaja
Sinolinding.

We denounce
in the strongest term possible this cowardly act, the Cotabato City based
physicians said in a statement.

The group said
Dr. Sinolinding served the people of Cotabato City and nearby areas humbly and
faithfully.The said
Sinolinding is not only a big loss to his family and to us his colleagues but a
tragic loss to the people he chose to serve.

We also raise
our angry voices, ‘Let justice be served!’ We pray that this will never happen
again not only to any of our colleagues but to any God-fearing citizen, the
physicians said.

who serve eye patients mostly pro bono in the countryside, was attending to
an eye patient at the Cotabato Doctors’ Clinic when a man showed up and shot
him in the face. He died instantly.

Professor
Harris Sinolinding, his elder brother, said Dr. Jaja has armed escort for he
and his family has been under threat.

Prof. Harris,
who survived an ambush in Kabacan, North Cotabato in August last year, said Dr.
Jaja was mistakenly suspected as financier of a protest action against
administrators of (North) Cotabato Foundation College of Science and
Technology.

The elder
Sinolinding has publicly denounced the alleged corruption in the state-run
college that led to protests by students.

Dr. Jaja did
not finance nor have a hand in the protest action, Prof. Sinolinding said.

The family was
also dismayed over the non-recording of a CCTV camera before and during the
murder of Sinolinding at about 11:10 a.m. on Tuesday.

The
Sinolindings cry for justice, not only for Dr. Jaja, but also for all other
health providers who are victims of violence in Mindanao. We trust our
police, we patiently wait for the result of the investigation, Dr. Kadil
Sinolinding Jr, also an ophthalmologist, said of his brother’s murder.

My brother
was a collateral damage to the issues surrounding the state run school in North
Cotabato, he said when asked of possible motive in the attack.

My parents
lost a very good son, I lost a very good brother and the Bangsamoro people lost
a very dedicated doctor, hardworking and kind hearted one, he said of his
brother who treated more than 50,000 people with eye problem, mostly for free.

Quoting Dr.
Jaja’s secretary, Dr. Kadil said an hour before his brother was murdered he was
repeatedly mentioning the name of one person. He refused to divulge the
person’s name but the same name has been threatening his family.

Dr. Kadil has
repeatedly appealed to his clan members not to put the law in their hands and
allow the wheel of justice to take its course.
