MANILA, Sept. 28 (PNA) -- The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday the country will be spared from storms in the next two to three days.PAGASA weather forecaster Meno Mendoza told the Philippines News Agency (PNA) they are not anticipating any cyclone to affect the country until Wednesday.Until the coming midweek, Mendoza said that except for Mindanao, the rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will remain to have sunny to partly cloudy skies with possible afternoon or evening rains because of the localized thunderstorms. On the other hand, he noted that Mindanao will experience light to moderate rains due to the effects of the southwest monsoon or hanging habagat -- the prevailing wind system during the rainy season -- affecting Mindanao. In its advisory, PAGASA said light to moderate winds blowing from the northeast to northwest will prevail over Luzon and the Visayas and coming from the southwest to west over Mindanao. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate. For the weekly outlook, by Monday (Sept. 29), the southwest monsoon is expected to weaken. Mindanao, as with the rest of the country, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. This weather scenario is expected to persist throughout the remainder of the forecast outlook period (Sept. 30-Oct. 3).No tropical cyclone is expected to affect any part of the country. However, this outlook will be updated as soon as significant changes in the weather pattern occur, PAGASA said. (PNA)SCS/CLTC/PJN
