Koronadal grants aid to family of guards killed in pawnshop hold-up

KORONADAL CITY
(Sept. 21) – The families of two security guards who died during a robbery hold-up
incident here will receive burial assistance from the city government of
Koronadal, Mayor Peter Miguel today said.

Miguel said
the city government has allocated part of its annual budget as a buffer fund to
quickly respond to the needs of the people in cases of emergency.

The local
chief executive said that even the wounded victims will receive financial
assistance.
Miguel has directed the police to capture the suspects dead or alive. Aside from the
two security guards, seven civilians were also wounded when six armed men barged
into Agencia Brillantes in Osmena Street and engaged responding policemen to a
shootout.

Earlier,
Miguel raised P50,000 reward money is available for information leading to the
arrest of each of the suspects.

Security guards
Joan Lazaga and Arlan Tamayo were killed in the daring hold-up. Tamayo was a
guard of Fitmart deparment store near Agencia Brillantes and responded to the
incident when shot by the suspects.

A CCTV footage
of the broad daylight robbery hold-up went viral days after the bloody incident.

The footage, grabbed
from the CCTV unit of Agencia Brillantes, showed a man in polo shirt armed with
hand gun casually entering the pawnshop and quickly shot Lazaga, who was
standing at the main door.

As Lazaga
fell, three other suspects entered casually one at time.

Among them was
man in a white hooded jacket shot the fallen Lazaga six times before picking up
his 12-gauge shot gun while his companions grabbed jewelry by breaking the
display cabinet.

They
simultaneously seen pocketing sets of jewelry and valuables and fled with the
suspects shot gun and undetermined amount of valuables.

The event
recorded by the CCTV inside the pawnshop lasted only for a minute and 15
seconds, ending with the suspects leaving, unmindful of the fallen security
guard.

Six gunmen
arrived in front of the pawnshop at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday on board three
separate motorcycles, four went inside while two others served as look out.

Before
fleeing, the suspects tossed a hand grenade near the establishment. It did not explode.
