5 hurt as bus rams Kidapawan City motorists
KIDAPAWAN CITY
(Sept. 6/NDBC) – With a malfunctioned brake system, a wayward school bus rammed
into two motorcycles and a pick-up truck along a highway in Barangay Balindog
Friday morning here, leaving five persons wounded, two in critical condition.

Calubayan, driver of the wayward University of Southern Mindanao (USM) Kabacan school bus,
told DXND Radyo Bida said he was heading to Kidapawan City at a normal speed
when he noticed something wrong with the brake system at about 8 a.m.
He said it was
too late for him to realize the brake system malfunctioned and to take measures
to avoid accident.
I personally
apologized to the victims, nobody wants it to happen,” he said, admitting he
was driving one of the two second hand bus acquired by the university in 2006.
Hurt were
Antonieto Gutierrez, 56, motorcycle driver with his companion, Gerry Aligarvis,
38, both of Kidapawan City Richard Rapuza, also driving a motorbike from
Kabacan, North Cotabato Joselito Mondejar, pick-up truck driver and his
companion Elpidio Retiza, both of Kidapawan City.
Rapuza and
Aligarvis remained in the hospital due to critical head injuries.
