Cops file murder charges vs. Montes brothers in Cotabato shooting

COTABATO CITY - Police have filed murder and illegal possession of guns against two men involved in a shooting incident along SK Pendatun Avenue, Cotabato City on Wednesday night.Charged were Ben Montes alais Black Moro and his brother Mike Montes, both residents of Barangay Poblacion 1, Cotabato City.The Montes brothers were the primary suspects in the killing of Jordan Talusob, 18 of Barangay Poblacion 3 at past 9 p.m, according to Senior Supt. Rex Anongos, city police chief.Both were also charged for violating gun possession law after lawmen seized two ca. 45 pistol and cal. 38 revolver from them.After shooting Talusob, the Montes brothers along with Roland Cabatuan and Anima Adam fled on separate motorbikes but traded shots with pursuing members of the Army Special Forces.The shootout resulted in the dead of Cabatuan and Adam who expired before reaching the hospital. Mike Montes was wounded while Ben Montes surrendered later.Both are now detained at Police Station 1 lock up cell.
