KORONADAL CITY
- At least 38,000 pet dogs were given anti rabies vaccine in South Cotabato
from January to September this year, veterinary officials today said.

This is higher
compared to 23,000 recorded in the same period last year.

Flora Bigot, South
Cotabato provincial veterinary office head, said that they have conducted dog
vaccination in all barangays of eight out of ten municipalities in the
province.

Our priority
for the last quarter of 2014 is to give anti rabies shot to dogs in the
municipalities of T’boli and Lake Sebu,” she said.

A dog bite
from a rabid dog could be fatal and could cause death if patient is not treated
immediately.

To prevent the
spread of the disease, Bigot appealed to the populace to have their pet dogs
and cats vaccinated with anti rabies.

Rabies claimed
at least four lives in South Cotabato this year.
