KORONADAL CITY - A Rofuos Hornbill Buceros hydrocorax was turned-over by a concerned citizen to Community Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO) Tacurong City, of Isulan Sultan Kudarat on August 28 at 2:24 in the afternoon.

On that same day, the Rofous Hornbill was brought and peacefully turned-over to CENRO-Tacurong to Forester Saga A. Akmad together with Protected Area and Wildlife Section chief, Forester Mama Mulimpay.
Upon their verification and examination, environment officiaals said the hornbill belongs to the sub-species mindanensis because of its pale yellow color distal half feature.
Rofous Hornbill also known as Philippine Hornbill or “Kalaw” is a large species of hornbill which is endemic in the Philippines, but yet suffers from massive hunting activities and the loss of their natural habitat, which put them under vulnerable state.
DENR-12 strictly implements Republic Act R.A. 9147 or Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act which states wildlife as “wild forms and varieties of flora and fauna, in all developmental stages, including those which are in captivity or are being bred or propagated”.
