Rep. Robredo to inaugurate Sec. Jesse Robredo Avenue in Koronadal
KORONADAL CITY
(Sept. 28) – Rep. Leny Robredo of Camarines Sur’s 3rd congressional
district will lead the inauguration of a road projecthere on Wednesday when
the city celebrates its 14thCharter anniversary.
Rep. Robredo
is the wife of the late Jessie Robredo, former secretary of the Department of
Interior and Local Governments, who perished in a plane crash in Masbate in
August 18 2012.
Rep. Robredo
will inaugurate a 3.5 kilometer road constructed out of funds facilitated by
the late DILG secretary and will be named after him, according to Mayor Peter
Miguel.
It will
connect Arellano Street to the site of the proposed integrated public terminal
at the back of the city hall.
To
be called Jessie Robredo Avenue, the P25 million worth road project is yet to
be completed but Koronadal City Engineer Reuel Tianchon the inauguration will
push through as part of the foundation anniversary activities.
Miguel
said the road will be named after Robredo, the statesman, to remind the people
of Koronadal of his dedication to government service.
In
recognition of his achievements as Naga City mayor, Robredo was awarded the
Ramon Magsaysay Award for Government Service in 2000, the first Filipino mayor
so honored. He was appointed to the Cabinet of President Aquino in July 2010.
