Pope's envoyand May the seed of OMI presence continue to grow
COTABATO CITY
(Sept. 25) – Archbishop Giuseppe Pinto, Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines,
said he was praying the seed of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI), planted
75 years ago today, will continue to grow as the OMI celebrates its 75th
year of daring missionary presence in the Philippines.
Through the
prayers and inspiration of the Blessed Mother, Mary Immaculate, may the seed of
the OMI presence, planted 75 years ago today, continue to grow, and may your
missionary family be ever successful in your effort to bring God and His love to
a world which has a great need of it,” the Papal Nuncio said in a statement of
greetings to the OMI’s historic celebration today.
Archbishop
Pinto recalled that 75 years ago today, the OMI missionaries, led by its seven
pioneer Oblates, set foot to these islands to share with Christ’s faithful in
this Catholic country the riches of your congregation’s charism.
In doing so,
you have opened the path of holiness to many of those entrusted to your care,”
Pope Francis’ representative to the Philippines, told the Oblates.
Now you
looked back with gratitude for having reached the Diamond Jubilee of service to
God and His Church,” he said in his message posted on the OMI jubilee special
edition of The Mindanao Cross.
This is also
the occasion to thank the Lord for the support of the Filipino people whose
faith has enriched the life of your religious family,” he said.
