Police anti-drug ops kill 9 in North Cotabato
KIDAPAWAN CITY – Police killed nine persons and a woman during a bloody police
anti-drug operations Friday night in Barangay Kilada, Matalam, North Cotabato,
police said today.
Joint police
and anti-narcotics agents, backed by soldiers, were to serve at 11:30 p.m. the
search warrants against drug suspects Dadting Kasan and Intan Aban in their
homes in Sitio Biao, Barangay Kilada when the suspects opened fire, said Supt. Bernard Tayong, speaking for North Cotabato police office.
Chief
Inspector Sunny Leoncito, Matalam town police chief, said Bai Intan Aban, a
woman, was arrested and will be charged.
Leoncito said
the lawmen were armed with two search warrants issued by Regional Trial Court Branch
16 Judge Alandrex Betoya.
He said seven
persons were critically injured during the operation Friday night. They were
rushed to the hospital but died along the way. Two more gunmen were in a brief
firefight at 5 a.m. Saturday during follow up operations.
