Moderate flash floods hit Kidapawan, destroy 4 homes
KIDAPAWAN CITY-(Sept. 25) — At least four houses made from light materials were partially damaged when rampaging flood waters from the overflowedNuangan River swept through it Wednesday night, residents said. Residents in Lapu-lapu Street, particularly those living beside a huge creek that emanates from Nuangan river, haveevacuated to higher places.Home appliances, dirty kitchen and even comfort rooms were destroyed. The water level passed over concrete walk ways and bridges, Mohaliden Kamad, a Lapu-Lapu resident said. Kamad said floodsthat penetrated his shanty have reached up to waist deep prompting him to abandon the place. The rain batters the city at least two hours resulting the Nuangan River to swell,” Kamad said in the vernacular. Meantime the city government on Wednesday evening has imposed forced evacuations of residents near the flood prone areas.The residents however returned to their respective homes after the downpour.
