Lady cop from PRO-12, among bar passers

PRESIDENT QUIRINO, Sultan Kudarat– She is pregnant, she is a police officer and she is a mother. Now, she is a lawyer.

Police Officer
3 Irish Amor Villa-Bedua is now a lawyer after passing the 2016 BAR examination. She was among the 3,747 new lawyers who made.

Now a lawyer,
opportunities opened wide for her, including high paying jobs.

But Atty.
Irish Amor Villa-Bedua, who hails from President Quirino, Sultan Kudarat, would
stay with the Philippine National Police offer free legal services to
colleagues.

Becoming a
lawyer was Bedua’s childhood dream.

She graduated
AB Political Science at the Notre Dame of Marbel University and later proceeded
to the Mindanao State University College of Law.

Her law studies
had to be set aside as she fell in love with fellow police officer, PO3
Nepthalie Bedua, Supt Romeo Galgo Jr, speaking for police Regional Office 12, said. The couple was blessed with a
child named Ashley Bridget Sophie.

She stopped
law school. However, the dream continues to live within her, Galgo said in a
statement.

In 2007, Villa-Bedua
joined the police force and was assigned in President Quirino municipal police
office in Sultan Kudarat.

It was here
that Villa-Bedua had the opportunity to pursue her law studies at the Sultan Kudarat
State University while working as police investigator.

I had the
chance to pursue my education when then (PNP-12 regional director) Chief Supt.
Felicisimu Khu approved my request to be assigned in Pres. Quirino PNP in 2011,
she said.

Sa awa ng
Diyos after five years natapos ko din (Thanks be to God after five years I graduated),
Villa-Bedua said, commending her husband for continuously sending her back and
forth to SKSU in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat from President Quirino, about 30
kilometers apart.

Family
support, self-motivation, good foundation coupled with determination were my
main ingredients that made me a lawyer, she said.

Now called by
colleagues in the police force as Attorney PO3, Villa-Bedua revealed that she
reviewed twice before taking the examination in November last year.

This is to
ensure that I am confident enough, mentally and emotionally prepared for the
big day, she recalled.

During six
months review at San Beda Manila, I commit to myself the greatest sacrifice,
walang uwian, tatlong oras lang na tulog bawat gabi, reading and buying every
books that I think would help me out, getting myself prepared in all aspect
from physical, mental and emotional, that is how determined I am to have this
dream of mine come true. After knowing the result of the bar, all of the
sacrifices are all worth it, she said.

When asked about
her plans after passing the bar, this was her answerand I will continue to serve
the PNP and provide free legal services and consultations to my colleagues,
she said.

Atty.
Villa-Bedua is now five-month pregnant for her second child.

Supt. Galgo
said if her plans to stay with the police force push through, she is eligible for promotion
to the rank of Police Senior Inspector, six ranks higher than her current rank.
