Kabacan floods affect 8,435 families
KABACAN, North
Cotabato (Sept. 5) -- The floods that submerged nine villages of Kabacan, North
Cotabato has affected 8,435 families, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and
Management Council said today.
This after the
Pulangi and Kabacan Rivers overflowed Wednesday, disaster officials said.
Of the 8,435
families affected, about 162 families are now staying at two evacuation
centers.
Following the
incident, the Municipal disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, in its
report, said relief operations had been conducted but the number of displaced
families continue to rise due to continuous moderate to heavy down pour.
The nine inundated
villages are situated beside the Kabacan River and Pulangi River.
Mayor Herlo
Guzman of Kabacan said no reported damages on government structures such as
roads and bridges.
All roads
remained passable. (NDBC)
