How's that again? PNP-ARMM has cop with fake name
COTABATO
CITY (Sept. 26) – For about 10 years, a cop in the Autonomous Region in Muslim
Mindanao (ARMM) had been serving as a a regularpolice officer in a town inLanao del Sur and regularly getting
paid.
Except that all
these years, he was not using his real name but of a dismissed police officer’s.
He
was even promoted twice and nobody found out until recently,” Chief Supt. Noel
Delos Reyes, ARMM police regional director, told local ABS-CBN news channel
Thursday.
Delos
Reyes said his office, which has started cleansing process for misfits and
undesirables this year, has uncovered a case of an active police officer who
assumed the name of another policeman dismissed in 2004.
He
used fictitious name when he applied to become a police officer in 2004,” Delos
Reyes said of PO3 Agakan Ishak of Calanogas, Lanao del Sur.
His
real name was Ibrahim Wahab Galman.
Ishak
was dismissed from service in 2004.
We
found out he was promoted twice. He served as town councilor at the same time
a police officer. He did not change
address, not even his face, and nobody was aware about it,” the visibly amusedDelos Reyes said in
Filipino.
Efforts
to reach Galman failed as of posting.
Delos
Reyes has started cleaning the PNP-ARMM ranks of misfits, undesirables and
corrupt police officers.
The
process resulted in the discovery of missing firearms in the provinces of
Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.
He
said the cleansing process is continuing and primarilyaimed at restoring peoples’ confidence
in the PNP.
