Hataman hires 75 more new teachers for Maguindanao

COTABATO CITY ---- Officials hired on Monday 75 more public teachers to propagate culture of peace in hostile areas in Maguindanao province.Gov. Mujiv Hataman of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and his regional education secretary, Rasol Mitmug, Jr., jointly facilitated the placement of the teachers to permanent teaching posts during a symbolic gathering at the ARMM compound here Monday morning.Hataman said the 75 teachers are all qualified for appointment to teaching positions covered by civil service laws. All of them are licensed teachers and they all passed the examinations needed to test their capability to handle classes in barrio schools, Hataman said.Hataman said the Department of Education-ARMM will hire more licensed teachers this year to hasten efforts of addressing illiteracy in the autonomous region.The autonomous region covers Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur, which are both in mainland Mindanao, and the island provinces of Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.Hataman said the 75 teachers shall be involved in activities meant to foster religious and cultural solidarity among ARMM’s divergent Muslim, Christian and Lumad communities.Hataman appointed early this month more than 200 teachers for different towns in Sulu.The newly-hired teachers for remote schools in Sulu have also been tasked to focus on peace education subjects in support of the national government’s effort of restoring normalcy in the troubled province.
