Habagat to bring rain over Mindanao Friday - PAG-ASA
MANILA Sept. 26 (PNA) -- Light to moderate rains is to expected over the parts of Mindanao on Friday due to southwest monsoon or hanging habagat as it continues to be the dominant weather system affecting the country, according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).The southwest monsoon, which is associated with the occurrence of intermittent to continuous rains, is the prevailing wind system during the rainy season.PAGASA weather forecaster Jun Galang said due to southwest monsoon that is enhanced by a tropical cyclone which is still outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), the Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao and Caraga will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms.Galang also said the tropical cyclone outside PAR is not expected to enter the country.Galang said the rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.In its advisory, PAGASA said light to moderate winds blowing from the northeast to northwest will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and coming from the southwest to west over Mindanao.The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate.
