GenSan cops seize cut lumbers, arrest 2

CITY – Two suspects were arrested for transporting undocumented 3,000 board
feet of assorted sizes of lumbers in Calumpang here on Tuesday, police said
today.
Chief Supt.
Marcelo Morales, police regional director for the SOCCSKSARGEN, identified the
suspects as truck driver Dante Tacbas Labios, 39 and a resident of Purok
Tomasa, Barangay Calumpang, General Santos City and his helper Joverbon Jasson
Sone Roquero, 20 of Purok 11-A, Barangay Fatima, this city.
Joint police
and Maritime Group intercepted the truck loaded with forest products but the
two suspects could not present legal documents to prove the legality of cutting
trees.
Morales said
prior to the apprehension of forest products, police received a tip from
concerned citizens, of an impending transport of forest products from Sarangani
province.
The suspects
are now under custody at Police Station 5 and appropriate charges will be filed
against them.
The lumbers were
brought to the office of Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)
Our Policemen
are performing their duties and having intercepted such truckload lumbers is a
proof of their efficiency and effectiveness, Morales said.
In a statement, Morales
said the PNP does not only focus on its campaign against illegal drugs but also
on all types of criminality where its primary goal is to free all places of
Region 12 from law breakers and prevent crimes occurrence.
