Farmers get work animals from NorCot OPVet
ALEOSAN,
North Cotabato – More than a week after the North Cotabato office
of provincial veterinarian (OPVet) treated more than 740 work animals of
internally displaced persons (IDP), the OPVet dispersed animals to farmer
beneficiaries here remote villages here. In
late February, th OPVet conducted sagip hayop” program in nearby Pikit, also
in North Cotabato, and treated animals of IDPs which Dr. Rufuno Suropia, provincial
veterinarian, said also suffered stressed and trauma.
Over
the weekend, Dr. Suropia led his staff in the Animal Dispersal Program in the
municipalities of Midsayap, Aleosan and Matalam in North Cotabato.During
the dispersal, thirty cows and 10 carabaos were distributed by personnel of the
OPVET to around 40 farmers based in Barangay Poblacion of Aleosan, and nearby
Midsayap and Pikit municipalities and in Barangay Malamote, Matalam.
Sorupia
said the beneficiaries were small farmers who passed the criteria and
qualifications of the OPVET’s program.
