Cotabato Light joins Brigada Eskwela, beautifies school

COTABATO CITY - Workers of the Aboitiz-owned Cotabato Light and Power Company (Cotabato Light) and volunteers joined Friday parents and education officials of a public school here in this year's Brigada Eskwela. Arlene Hepiga of the Cotabato Light Human Resources and Reputation Enhancement (HR-RED), said the firm's participation in the preparation of school for this year's classes opening involved repainting of chairs and classrooms, re-wiring and cleaning the surroundings. We are glad to be instrumental in the preparation of Amirol Elementary School, we have been doing this for the past several years already, Hepiga said. Brigada Eskwela is a week-long activity by parents, teachers, non government organizations and volunteers to guarantee that all the schools are ready for the opening of classes.It has been institutionalized so that students and their parents will not spend much time cleaning and doing minor repairs classrooms on day one of classes.Hepiga said described the volunteers as enthusiastic and dedicated during the day-long activity at Amirol Elementary School in Barangay Kalanganan Mother, Cotabato City. She appreciated the high spirit of volunteerism of parents and residents near the school. We hope you have enjoyed painting, rewiring and cleaning the school facilities in preparation for the opening of the class on Monday, she said. Your support indeed made this event successful, Hepiga said. More Cotabato Light Corporate Social Responsibility (CR) programs are in the pipeline this year.
