Cotabato distressed guard, shoots guard then shoots self
COTABATO CITY
(Sept. 26) – An apparently disturbed security guard who was being rushed to a
hospital by his wife refused to be treated and instead killed himself.
Senior Supt.
Rolen Balquin, Cotabato City police director, said Santiago Tee, 52, was rushed
by his wife to the Cotabato Medical Specialist Hospital after he fell from a
tree at 6 a.m. Thursday.
As he was
about to be carried into a stretcher at the emergency entrance of the hospital,
security guard on duty Tugaya Makakena assisted hospital attendants.
Balquin said
for still unknown reasons, Tee grabbed the cal. 38 revolver of Makakena and
shot the guard on his shoulder.
As Makakena
fell, Tee then shot pointed the cal. 38 revolver on his throat and pulled the
trigger.
He must have
a psychological or psychiatric problem to do that,” Balquin said, adding that
police men are still probing the incident.
Senior InspectorEfren Salazar, police station 1 chief, said the wife remained missing to date after she left the crime scene after the incident.
