Loong, vice chair of the House Adhoc Committee on the Bangsamoro Basic Law
(BBL), today appealed to his fellow lawmakers and the Senate to pass the draft
Basic Law for Bangsamoro because it is the country’s only opportunity for peace
and development.

QUEZON CITY - Cagayan Rep. Rufus Rodriguez, principal sponsor of House Bill 5811 or the draft Bangsamoro basic law, now called Basic Law for the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BLBAR), remains hopeful that the bill will be approved next week.Four session days are left before Congress adjourns sine die on June 11 but Rodriguez said the remaining days will be crucial for the passage of his bill.In a press statement, Rodriguez said he was told that some of those who listed up to interpellate have decided to withdraw questioning to fast track the plenary deliberation.

COTABATO CITY – The majority of mayors in the Autonomous Region in Muslim
Mindanao (ARMM) are asking national legislators to review and approve the
Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).

Thirteen
mayors from Maguindanao, 26 from Lanao del Sur, seven from Sulu, 12 from
Basilan, and eight from Tawi-Tawi manifested their support for the passage of
the BBL saying it is a step in fulfilling a lasting peace in Mindanao.

QUEZON CITY –
A substitute bill of the proposed House Bill 4994 or the draft Bangsamoro Basic Law
(BBL) has been submitted for floor debates at the House of Representatives as
peace advocates hope smooth sailing and not diluted bill.

Cagayan Rep.
Rufus Rodriguez authored the substitute bill, now known as House Bill 5811 or
draft Basic Law of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (BL-BAR).

Rodriguez said
HB 5811 envisioned a new region under One Constitution, One Nation.”

MANILA -Senator Ferdinand Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr. said he is working overtime to finish consultation with major stakeholders on the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law, not to delay its passage but to address its flaws and enable it to withstand any legal challenges. Can you imagine the constitutional infirmities of the BBL, how glaring they are and they still insist, walang papalitan? If we wanted to sabotage the BBL, that is precisely what we would do, hindi namin papalitan.

MANILA – Several members of the House of Representatives from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and party-list groups are urging their colleagues to heed calls for peace and development in the Bangsamoro, and vote for the amended Basic Law of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region which is set for plenary deliberations on June 1. We seek the affirmative votes of our fellow members of the House of Representatives when the Bangsamoro bill is submitted to a vote.

KIDAPAWAN CITY – A top official of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) can only hope and wish that the deliberations of the two houses of Congress on the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) will finally be completed before they adjourn on June 11. After all, MILF panel chair Mohaqher Iqbal said the draft law has been given to the legislators for their analysis and examination, nine months following the signing of the Comprehensive Agreement on Bangsamoro (CAB) in Malacanang. The CAB becomes the basis of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission for drafting BBL.
