Cotabato City LGU yield unlicensed guns to Army

COTABATO CITY – This city has become the second local government unit in Region
12 that positively responded to President Duterte’s calls for surrender of
loose firearms.

First LGU to turn
in collected unlicensed guns was Carmen town in North Cotabato with 102
firearms.

On Wednesday
morning, a total of 42 assorted high powered guns were turned over by local
officials, led by lady Mayor Cynthia Guiani Sayadi, to the Army’s 6th
Infantry Division.

In simple ceremonies,
Guiani-Sayadi turned over to5thSpecial Forces Battalion (5thSFBn) Commander Lt. ColonelEros James M. Uri and Task Force Kutawato (TFK) Commander Col. Wilbur C. Mamawagthe firearms that she and other local officials collected from the residents
of 37 villages.

Senior Supt.
Rolly Octavio, city police director, the surrender of loose guns will help the
city government’s mission of making the upcoming village and Sangguniang
Kabataan elections peaceful.

Octavio said
more unlicensed guns are expected to be turned over anytime as the campaign has
been intensified in the city.

I appeal to
all owners of unlicensed guns to turn them over to the government, otherwise,
they will be subject of law enforcement operations, Octavio said.

Among those turned
over to the Army were M-203 grenade launchers, ammunition, Armalite rifles and
