COTABATO CITY -- The annual Cotabato
City Pet Fair is set for Saturday, March 17, at the Notre Dame Social Action
Center Gymnasium here.

This year’s fair, which starts at 9 in
the morning and ends at 5 in the afternoon, features a pet walk, free
veterinary services, and a pet exhibit. Pet supplies will also be available for
pet owners and enthusiasts.

Dr. Geraldson Navarra, pet fair sponsor,
said the pet walk will be at 7 a.m. from the Petron Hi-Way gasoline station
going to the NDSAC Gym and is open to all types of pets.

Navarra said the walk will serve as a preliminary
exercise for pets and help maintain their health to prevent obesity and
lethargy.

Among the free veterinary services to be
offered are free anti-rabies vaccination, antiparasitic and deworming services,
and spaying and castration surgeries. Also available are vitamin supplemens and
dogfood samples, pet shampoo, and other give aways.

Procedures and services to be given
would depend on the pet’s need as determined by the veterinarians.Navarra said the pet exhibit will
provide pet owners an opportunity to show off their companions. It can also
inspire people to care for animals properly and convince them to care for pets
which need special attention. The most important lesson this activity can give
to pet owners, Navarra added, is how to treat animals properly, especially
exotic or fragile ones.

The Pet Fair is a yearly activity widely
anticipated by pet owners in the city. (Daverick B. Lim/NDU-BAComm3)
