GEN. SANTOS CITY -- Chief Supt. Cedrick Tradin, police regional director for Central Mindanao region on Friday led PRO-12 officers and men and women in the commemoration of Jesus Christ's 14 Station of the Cross inside the regional headquarters in Barangay Tambler here.Accompanying Train were Senior Supt. Jose Briones, deputy director for administration, Senior Supt. Leonardo Suan, deputy director for operations and Senior Supt. Manuel Lukban Jr, regional directorial staff.Supt. Jaime Serina III, PRO-12 regional chaplain said the way of the cross began 4 a.m. at the parted road near Gensan International Airport and passed along diversion road towards Police Regional Office 12 camp in Barangay Tambler. At the first station, Chief Supt. Train carried the biggest processional crucifix. He led the crowd who also carried wooden crucifixes.Upon reaching every station, the bigger wooden processional crucifix was passed on to the next police officer until it reached the final station. Carrying the cross resembles commitment. It is also a call to absolute surrender of one self for Jesus, Supt. Serina said. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self? (Luke 9:24-25), he added. For the men and women of PRO12, taking up the cross is to give everything for the service and protection of humanity, to lead the people by example, and to do what is righteous and just. It may be a tough call for everyone who took up their crucifixes, yet, at the end of the day, God’s reward is unparalleled. On Monday, Fr. Bonifacio Ampoyas, PHD, parish priest, described the station of the cross as a service and protection for humanity and a selfless giving founded in the mother of all values and virtue, and that is Humility, and a liven-out protection as a sense of Police Officer’s accountability and commitment to God, Country and People. Suman, Binignit, Pandesal and hot coffee wereshared by all those who participated the Good Friday procession, including police officers families and children.
