DATU ODIN SINSUAT,
Maguindanao -- An overseas Filipino worker, who just returned home and
found the money she sent to her husband was unaccounted for, was hacked by her
spouse in Maguindanao Friday, police said today.

Chief Inspector Achmad
Alibonga, police chief of Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao, said Landy Gunsi
Paulino, 31, attacked his wife, Leni, with a machete after she confronted her about
the money she sent for the construction of the family’s home in Sitio Green
Hills, Barangay Awang here.

The wife’s left arm was
severed, Alibonga said of the 5 a.m. hacking incident that transpired in the
family’s home. The suspect’s father and brother were also hurt during the commotion.

Leni, now recuperating at
a government hospital in Cotabato City, arrived two days ago from overseas
where she worked as domestic helper. She
has been asking Landy where’s the money and the house they planned to build.

But Landy could not
provide answers every time Lani sought answers. Landy would go away then return
home at night.

On Friday morning, Lani
again confronted Landy about the money but got no clear replies. A heated
argument ensued, Alibonga said.

Without uttering a word, Landy
pulled a machete and hacked his wife who tried to fend off the bolo. As a result, Lani’s left arm was cut.

The suspect’s father,
Alberto and his brother, tried to prevent his son from attacking his wife, but they
too, were hurt.

After the crime, Landy
went outside and committed suicide by hanging.

Alibonga said
investigation showed Landy had planned the crime as he prepared a nylon tied to
a mango tree at the back of his house where he ended his life.
