Norala truck helper dies in Davao Sur freak accident

MATANAO, Davao del Sur - A truck helper from Norala, South Cotabato was pinned to death by a hauler truck Friday night along portions of the Davao del Sur-Kidapawan highway.Alex Hebaler, 50 of Norala was working helper of a cargo truck driven by Samson Magtang, 54 of Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, according to Police Officer 3 Henry Davin, Matanao traffic investigator, said.Davain said the Isuzu dropside cargo truck (UCR-734) was loaded with scrap metals heading for Davao City and upon reaching Barangay Sinaragan, Matanao, the driver noticed the truck's brake system was no longer working.He tried to stop the vehicle by bringing it to the roadside to hit a tree and avoid on-coming vehicles.Davin said Hebaler has panicked and jumped off from the front seat only to be pinned by the truck's rear double wheels.
