Drug suspect hurt in clash with cops, welcomes New Year in hospital

KORONADAL CITY - A 39-year old suspected drug pusher is welcoming the New Year while in hospital bed here after he fired shots against lawmen lawmen during drug buy bust operation.Dr. Glorio Sandig, Koronadal City Anti-Drug Council action officer, said instead of peacefully yielding to authorities during the 4 p.m. drug buy bust operation in Purok Gracia Vila, Barangay Zone 1, this city, Leo Licayan fired shots at lawmen. Seized from Licayan were two sachets of shabu and drug money.Licayan's companion, a known drug pusher in Barangay Zone 1, Butchard Calderon, managed to escape. Licayan sustained a gunshot wound on his left leg and is recuperating at the South Cotabato provincial hospital.
