KORONADAL CITY -- Exactly seven years after the infamous Maguindanao massacre, victims of the country's worst political election related violence, are still seeking for justice. It appears justice remain elusive seven years after the death of my husband, Ivy Maravilla, wife of slain journalist-broadcaster Bart Maravilla of bombo Radyo Radyo Philippines. She said the only gains she received was the scholarship grant from various groups that led her daughter to finish college. As justice has been delayed for years, Maravilla pinned her hope on President Duterte.Maravilla was one of the 32 journalists killed by armed men, led by Mayor Andal Ampatuan Jr, in the hilly portion of Sitio Masalay, Barangay Salman, Ampatuan, Maguindanao.A total of 58 persons were massacred at about 10 a.m. of Nov. 23, 2009, including the wife, sisters and relatives of then Buluan vice mayor now Maguindanao Gov. Esmael Toto Mangudadatu.Mangudadatu today led simple ceremonies at the massacre site where a commemorative marker was established.
