KORONADAL CITY – An hour-long heavy down pour spawned by
inter-tropical convergence zone affecting Mindanao triggered flash floods and
submerged portions of Koronadal City-Gen. Santos City national highway at 6
p.m. today.Disaster officials said the two-kilometer drainage canal
overflowed and submerged Purok Pag-asa in Barangay Carpenter Hill, Koronadal
City.DXOM-AM Radyo Bida Koronadal reported that more than 400
vehicles to and from Koronadal City have been stalled by the rampaging flood
waters.

This is the worst flash floods that hit our village, Nanay
Salvacion, a resident of Purok Pag-asa, said.
Her home was flooded and house appliances were under water for about an
hour.

The flood water no longer follow the drainage canal or the
highway but into residential areas, she said.

Disaster officials used hauler trucks and a fire truck to block
the highway and prevent adventurous motorists to cross the flooded four-lane
highway.

Village officials of Carpenter Hill said vehicles going to Gen.
Santos City from Koronadal were rerouted to Tampakan while vehicles coming to
Gen. Santos City were directed to use the detour route to Tampakan.

Three backhoe and graders have been hauling motorists to cross
the flooded streets.

Purok Pag-asa was the most affected with flash floods reaching
as high as waist level. As of posting, rescue workers are still clearing tree branches and debris that clogged the canal and littered the highway. sand//scontent.fceb2-2.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/14716281_1090615917711883_2323369332909319284_n.jpg?oh=e2b553ee0d8d13daf16b124e41081001:ampoe=589F90E2
