PNP anti-drug group agents arrest Maguindanao vice mayor at Awang airport

COTABATO CITY –
Vice Mayor Abdul Wahab of Talitay, Maguinadnao was arrested by elements of Police
Anti-Illegal Drug Group as he arrived from Manila via Awang airport Thursday,
the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in the Autonomous Region in
Muslim Mindanao (CIDG-ARMM) said.
Senior Supt.
Jimmy Daza, CIDG-ARMM chief, said the vice mayor did not resist arrest when lawmen took custody of him as he step out of the exit gate of Awang Airport at past 12 noon.
Sabal was
among the local officials of Maguindanao named by Duterte as politicians in
illegal drug business last Aug. 7. His
elder brother, Talitay Mayor Montasir Sabal, was among those named.
Both have
denied the allegations they were into illegal drugs.
Daza refused
to give further details of the arrest but said it was a legitimate AIDG
operation in coordination with his office.
Sabal is now
in the custody of AIDG.
