MIDSAYAP, North
Cotabato – Nine farm workers from a remote village here have been hospitalized
after complaining of severe stomach pain and vomiting in what medical experts
said could be a case of food poisoning.

Dr. Manuel
Rabara, officer in charge of Amado Diaz Memorial Hospital, said the health
condition of nine male farm workers have been improving.

We could not
determine as of yet what causes the stomach pain and vomiting of the farm
workers unless a laboratory results are released,” Rabara told DXMS Radyo Bida
Tuesday.

About 21 farm
workers from Barangay Katinggawan, Midsayap, North Cotabato went to Barangay
Tubon, Pigcawayan, also in North Cotabato on Monday to harvest palay for a fee.

After taking breakfast,
nine of the 21 male harvesters complained of excruciating stomach pain and some
have vomited.

Others
complained of loose bowel movement.

Rabara
identified them as Peter John Cadungog, 20 Roel Cueno, 28 Rolando Cedeno, 46
Vincent John Bingil, 18 Bryan Libosada, 28 Ronnie Cabanyog, Sr. 44 Francis
Bingil, 47 Joseph Bingil, 34 and Jayson Arco, 16.

Rabara said the
victims may have taken a spoiled food or food that was contaminated with
bacteria. But laboratory showed no traces of bacteria. Sadly, we could not examine the pancit, Rabara said.Ronnie Cabanog, one of the victims, claimed the nine victims ate noodles in thebreakfast. Had we know it could give us this pain, we would have not taken it, Cabanog said.Rabara also believed the pancit was the culprit since11 of their companions who did not eat pancit have not suffered stomach pain.
