KABACAN, North
Cotabato – Fire investigators are looking at an electric fan left unattended
and illegal electrical connections as the culprit in Monday’s fire that gutted
a residential house here.

Fire Marshall
Senior Inspector Ibrahim Guiamelon, chief of Kabacan Bureau of Fire Protection
(BFP), said the house of Amir Mulod along Mapanao Extension, Barangay Poblacion
was turned into ashes when the fire broke out at 2:45 p.m.

The town,
which was still reeling from the deadly blast the claimed the life of a student
and wounded 16 others, was experiencing power brownout when the conflagration
started. But officials said the fire had nothing to do with the bombing.

Nobody was
hurt in the incident.

Guiamelon said
nobody was in the house when the fire started and quickly because it was made
of light materials. Estimated cost of
damages was pegged at P170,000.

Kabacan had
been experiencing rotational brownout and Guiamelon reminded the residents not
to leave appliances and other electrical equipment unattended to avoid fire and
save lives and properties.
