CCSPC senior wins DOE-DTI Quiz Bee
COTABATO CITY - A student of the Cotabato
City State Polytechnic College (CCSPC) emerged as champion in Wednesday’s 2014
consumer welfare month quiz bee involving 14 different high schools in the
city.
The academic contest was a joint activity of
the Department of Energy and the office of the Department of Trade and Industry
in Cotabato City.
Derumbai Midtimbang, of the CCSPC laboratory
high school, topped the quiz bee, vesting 13 other participants.
Next to Midtimbang were Durelle Kisha
Romasanta of the St. Benedict High School, and Klarence Robert Siong of the
Notre Dame of Cotabato, second and third placers, respectively.
Midtimbang, Romasanta and Siong are all
graduating high schools students.
Seven of the 14 schools that participated in
the contest were private institutions.The quiz bee delved on energy issues, basic
science, and topics related to fair trade and consumer welfare.
The activity was held at the South Seas
Commercial Complex in the city’s main commercial district.
Carlito Nunez, officer-in-charge of the DTI’s
Cotabato City office, said he is thankful to cooperating agencies that helped
organize the quiz bee, a yearly activity of the trade and industry department.
Nunez said the winners were awarded with
medals and corresponding cash prizes -- P3,000 (champion), P2,000 (second
place) and P1,000 (third place).
The coaches of the three
students, Analiza Paltinca for Midtimbang, Odyssy Española for Romasanta and
Apolinario Dordas for Siong, received P500 each as incentive, Nunez said.
