NorCot provincial health team reached out to indigents

KIDAPAWAN CITY (Sep 16/NDBC) –- The North Cotabato provincial health team has conducted medicaloutreach program that benefited more than 1,000 indigents here andin Aleosan, North Cotabato, the NorthCotabato media bureau said today.The
Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) was backed by soldiers and other volunteer health providers.Held
at Barangay Kalaisan, Kidapawan City and Barangay Katalicanan, Aleosan, North
Cotabato, the outreach team conducted medical and dental services to more than
1,000 indigent patients.

Like
in the other barangays the team had visited, the doctors and dentists performed
medical consultations, oral examinations and tooth extractions and
circumcisions to the residents for free.

Nilo
Barette, Chairperson of Kalaisan village, gathered his constituents early on Monday
and welcomed the composite team in their Barangay Hall.

The
beneficiaries were also provided with medicines and vitamins after they were
checked up by doctors.

Dr.
Jerry F. Barredo, IPHO dentist and in charge of documentation of the outreach
programs, said the health team was able to provide free medical consultation to
459 individuals, 105 availed of oral examination and tooth extractions and
performed circumcision to 70 young boys in Kalaisan village.

The
doctors who volunteered their services in Barangay Kalaisan were Dr. Joel V.
Sungcad, Chief of Hospital of Arakan Valley Complex Hospital, Dr. Alex Cabrera,
Chief of Hospital of President Roxas Community Hospital and dentists composed
of Dr. Editha Cagoco, Dr. Zita M. Villagonzalo and Dr. Dibinagracia V.
Alimbuyao.

Personnel
from the 57th Army of the Philippine Army based in Makilala, Cotabato assisted
in the activity particularly in tooth extraction, circumcision procedure and
provided security on the area.

Hundreds
also benefited from the medical and dental outreach in Katalicanan village of Aleosan
on Sep. 11.

Dr.
Barredo listed around 455 availed of free consultation and check-up, 68 availed
of free oral examination and tooth extraction and 25 young boys were
circumcised in the barangay, all of them were given medicines and vitamins.

Edgar
Catanus, chairman of Barangay Katalicanan, welcomed the health team in their
Barangay Hall were the activity was conducted.

The
doctors who joined the medical-dental outreach in Katilacanan village were Dr.
Ma. Isabel Pader, Chief of Hospital of Aleosan District Hospital,Dr. Joy
Posada, Chief of Hospital of Alamada Community Hospital and Dr. Mary Jane G.
Apusada, Chief of Hospital of Amado Diaz Hospital.

On
the other hand, the volunteer dentists who joined the Katilacanan
medical-dental outreach were composed of Dr. Editha Cagoco, Dr. Zita M.
Villagonzalo and Dr. Divinagracia V. Alimbuyao.

Both
Chairmen Barette of Kalaisan village and Catanus of Katilacanan village
expressed their gratitude to the Provincial Government of Cotabato for conducting
outreach in their respective barangays.

I
am very grateful to the provincial government and to Gov. Emmylou Lala” J.
Taliño-Mendoza for providing us with this highly essential program,” Barette
said.

Catanus
on the other hand said the medical-dental outreach in his village was an
answered prayer” and that it has helped a lot of families who cannot afford to
see or consult a doctor.

I
would like to extend our appreciation to Gov. Taliño-Mendoza for her concern to
the people of Katalicanan village,” Catanus said. (NDBC)
