6 suspects fall in South Cotabato anti-illegal drug drive

KORONADAL CITY – Six persons were arrested in
separate police anti-drug operations in South Cotabato the past two days as
authorities intensified implementation of PROJECT DUTERTE.

Police have been implementing a nationwide campaign
dubbed Double Barrel” and regional campaign called PROJECT DUTERTE” which
stands for Drug Use and Trafficking
Elimination through Rehabilitation, Training and Enforcement,” an initiative of
the Police Regional Office No. 12 in support to President Rodrigo Duterte’s
anti-drug campaign.

It also aims to aims to encourage illegal drug pushers
and users do away with unlawful activities and voluntarily surrender to authorities.

In Sto. Nino, South Cotabato, police arrested four
persons involved in illegal drug activities, two of whom were in the PNP top 10
list of suspected drug dependents.

Senior Inspector Bernie Paldas, Sto. Nino town
police chief, identified the arrested suspects as Randy Calsenia of Barangay
Poblacion, Eric Mallorca, Joey Baulete, all arrested Wednesday and Froilan dela
Cruz, a tricycle driver.

Calsenia is a person with disability and No. 10 most
wanted while dela Cruz was the town’s No. 8 most wanted person in illegal drug
activities.

Paldas said the trio were arrested after the police
was tipped off by neighbours about an ongoing pot session in Barangay Poblacion
at 11 a.m. Seized from them were shabu and paraphernalia.

Two of them have voluntarily surrendered to police
and vowed to do away with illegal drugs.

In Banga town, police arrested Randy Mariveles, 56,
the town’s No. 1 most wanted person in illegal drug during anti-drug buy bust
operation Thursday.

recovered one large and six medium size sachets of suspected shabu.

Duadua said the Banga PNP has intensified its post
voluntary surrender operations to determine whether or not those who yielded
have indeed reformed.

In Surallah town, a drug pusher was arrested during
anti-drug operation in Barangay Libertad, Surallah’s most illegal drug infiltrated
barangay.

Police identified the suspect as Alfredo Bayoneta
Tayson, 52, who last month showed up at police station and volunteered to
reform.

Reports reached police office that Tayson have gone
back to his old ways. To confirm, police
launched illegal drug buy bust which led to his arrest.

Charges for violation
of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
