Fire hits Banga school building

KORONADAL CITY -- An old, three-classroom building in Purok Rizal Elementary School in Banga, South Cotabato was razed to the ground in a fire that hit at 6 a.m. Wednesday.Hermiginildo Lopez, school principal, the fire destroyed about P200,000 worth of old books and old classroom chairs. One of the burned classroom has been turned into a storage house. It rendered about 40 students classroom-less when the fire enguled the 40-year-old structure, Lopez said.A student allegedly saw the fire as it started and quickly alerted his classmates and teachers. They tried but failed to put off the blaze.
