Grand Mufti says ISIS is haram, un-Islamic
COTABATO CITY – A ranking
Islamic religious leader in Cotabato City today said that Islam does not and
will not recognize the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
Darul Ifta of the Philippines
Grand Mufti Abuhuraira Udasan said ISIS is haram” (prohibited)for Islam and and its
teachings is not recognized by the Muslim Ummah (Muslim World).
Udasan said he was surprised to
learn that one of the fatalities in Palimbang clash, where ISIS inspired armed
group and the Philippine Marines clashed last week, was from Cotabato City.
He said Islam condemns acts of
recruitment of Muslim minors to be indoctrinated of wrong doctrines, especially
if they are engaged in bloody armed struggle.
This is alarming, very
disturbing,” Udasan said, adding that Muslim clerics in Mindanao will gather in
Camp Darapanan, home of the Moro Islaimic Liberation Front to discuss the
alleged ISIS presence in Mindanao.
Udasan said he had conducted
research about Ansar al-Khalifa. He
learned through research that the term Ansar al-Khalifah mean supporter of Khalifah”
or Successor of caliphate,” referring to self proclaimed caliphate Abubkr
al-Bagdad, founding leader of ISIS.
Udasan said he was saddened the
young children were indoctrinated with wrong Islamic faith.
They have to learn the koran
according to them, learning the Koran is usual of course because every Muslim
has to learn the Koran but not train militarily,” Udasan said.
The MILF is against it,” he
added. Islam prohibits children and innocent minors to go to the battlefield,”
he said. This is against the teachings
of Koran, the teaching of Koran is peace, they are extremists, sometime they
execute people, even women, this is un-Islamic.”
If they are really Muslims as
they are claiming, they should follow the Islamic way because Islam is not
extreme, there is no extremism in Islam and Islam is peace and submission,”
Udasan said.
