Man arrested for gun possession in Kabacan

KABACAN, North Cotabato - A man suspiciously hanging around abusiness establishment along Rizal Avenue here was arrested for carrying an unlicensed gun, police said.Senior Insp. Ronnie Cordero, Kabacan police chief, said Aljie Maidu, 37,of Sitio Malabuwaya, Barangay Kayaga, Kabacan has been charged with illegal possession for firearms.He was seen by police officers detailed along Rizal Avenue with a cal. 45 pistol tucked on his waist. He is now detained at Kabacan PNP lock up cell.The arrest of Maidu came as the police has intensified its campaign against the proliferation of guns due to a series of crimes against life.In nearby Makilala, North Cotabato, police arrested Romel Pakiwag during illegal drug buy bust Monday afternoon in Barangay Nueva Vida.An employee of Dole Stanfilco, Pakiwag has been the subject of police surveillance due to his alleged involvement in illegal drug pushing.Seized from him was a sachet of suspected shabu, marked money and shabu paraphernalia.
