Dengue cases in Maguindanao rising, IPHO says

COTABATO CITY - Dengue cases continue to rise in Maguindnanao, Dr. Tahir Sulaik, provincial health chief, said.Sulaik, also Maguindanao Integrated Provincial Health Office chief, said his office has recorded 425 cases to date since January this year.

This is 24 percent higher as compared to the same period last year where IPHO recorded 342 cases.He said dengue cases has been rising in Maguindanao's 36 municipalities due climate change. It rains in the morning and sunny in the afternoon. Sometimes, it rains every afternoon, Sulaik told DXMS Radyo Bida .The health chief again appealed to the public to practice the habit of cleaning the surroundings, both inside and outside the homes, to destroy mosquito breeding sites.Patients who have symptoms of dengue must be brought to the hospital, Sulaik said, discouraging residents on the practice of home medication. There is no vaccine against dengue, Sulaik said, stressing the need to have the patients with symptoms of dengue confined in the hospital.
