Tulunan flood victims get aid
TULUNAN,
North Cotabato (Sep 16/NDBC) – Around 640 families affected by recent flash
floods in two villages in Tulunan, North Cotabato received relief goods from
the provincial social welfare office.
Marchita
Capilitan, focal person of Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office
(PSWDO) 370 families from Barangay Minapan and another 270 families from
Barangay Damawato benefited from the relief assistance.
Each
affected family received relief packs containing rice, canned goods and
noodles, Jimmy Sta Cruz of North Cotabato media bureau said in a statement.
Barangay
Minapan chairperson Martin Ricopuerto said heavy downpour last week triggered
the overflowing of waterways and drainage in the village.
Several
houses were submerged in Barangay Minapan as well as neighbouring villages of Kanebong,
Maybula, Galidan, Bual and Magbok.
Meanwhile,
the PSWDO team is now heading to the flash flood affected villages of
Macasendeg and Kudaratan, Midsayap for similar activity.
Macasendeg
has 769 affected families while Kudarangan has 355.
After
this, the team will conduct relief operations in the villages of Ulandang and
Tumbras, also in Midsayap with 711 and 411 affected families on Wednesday.
