TULUNAN, North Cotabato - The local government of Tulunan has appealed to its constituents to remain vigilant and watchful in the face of the series of bombing in North Cotabato, the latest of which was in adjacent town of Mlang on Sunday and the attempted robbery of a gas station in the same town Tuesday. Town Mayor Lani Candolada admitted the police and its force multipliers could not secure every nook and corner of Tulunan which had been subjected to harassment and bombings in the past. We need to be vigilant all the time, we need to help our police and law enforcers against lawless elements, Andolada told DXND Radyo Bida Kidapawan. She said any suspicious looking persons on board motorbikes or roaming around town should be reported to the police for appropriate action. Candolada was one of the local government executives who responded to appeals by Mayor Lito PInol of Mlang to extend help and send ambulance following last Sunday's bombing at a billiard hall. Vigilance is the key and every people of Tulunan should cooperate against terrorism, she said.In Kidapawan City, Supt. Franklin Anito, city police chief, appealed to the public to remain extra vigilant in the face of bombing threats. Increased police visibility and establishment of mobile checkpoints have been the action taken by police as preventive measures. But Anito said the police still need the support of the public, especially those in crowded places, in preventing crimes and violence. The Kidapawan City police personnel werebacked by elements of the 57th Infantry Battalion in securing the city.
