Today is last day of SK registration
COTABATO CITY (Sept. 29) – The Commission on
Elections in the SOCCSKSARGEN region is reminding the youth today is
last day of registration for the 2015 Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.
Lawyer Jose Villanueva, Comelec regional director
for Region 12, said the 10-day list up which began September 19 will,
definitely, have no extension.
Cotabato City Comelec office is under the Comelec
office in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
Villanueva said under Comelec Resolution No. 9899,
youth aged below 18 years-old and not less than 15 years-old on the day of the
scheduled elections on February 21, 2015.
Meaning those born from February 22, 1997 to
February 21, 200 are eligible to register for the SK election.
Even on Saturdays and Sundays, Comelec offices were
open to accommodate registrants manually and not with the use of biometric
system.
For those who are yet to register, the poll body is
reminding them to present proofs of their age such as birth certificate,
baptismal or school identification cards.
Comelec offices, Villanueva said, is open until 5
p.m. on September 29.
Those who fail to register cannot vote in next
year’s balloting unless they file petitions for inclusion before local courts.
SOCCSKSARGEN covers the provinces of North Cotabato,
South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani and the cities of Cotabato,
Koronadal, Tacurong, Kidapawan and Gen. Santos.
