Tacurong says 'No' to defective weighing scales
TACURONG CITY -- Every quarter of each year, the
Tacurong City Treasury Office (CTO) conducts a 'surprise' inspection of weighing
scales used in market stalls in the city public market. According to City
Treasurer Jessie Batchar, the office confiscated 80 defective weighing scales
this year. He also noted that most of the defective scales were confiscated
from transient fruit vendors operating at night in the city streets. Of the 80
confiscated scales, fifteen were already repaired while eighteen are still
under repair. On 27 November 2014, the City Treasury Office headed the
destruction of 47 weighing scales that were beyond repair. The defective
weighing scales were destroyed by a compactor in the City Engineering Compound
in Barangay New Isabela. The activity was witnessed by Mrs. Revelina Sespeñe,
Division Chief, DTI-SK. (LGU-Tacurong City Information)
