Tacurong boosts 2014 collection efficiency
TACURONG CITY – Tax and
non-tax collection in this bustling city was at its best in 2014, the city
treasurer’s office today said.
In a statement, City
Treasurer Jessie Batchar announced that the city’s tax and non-tax collection
efficiency in fiscal year 2014 reached a whopping 106.4 percent.
Batchar said the CTO actual
collection amounted to Php82.9 million in 2014, greater than the target
collection of P77.9 million.
He said of the Php82.9
million total collections, Php31.5 million pesos were tax revenues. On the
other hand, non-tax revenue collection reached Php51.3 million. The city treasurer explained
that tax revenues include real property tax and business and other taxes while
non-tax revenues include regulatory fees, service or user charges, and receipts
from economic enterprises and other fees.
By achieving,
and even exceeding the collection target, the city government will be able to
sustain its operational expenditures on its programs and projects,” Batchar
said.
He lauded staff and personnel of the City Treasurer’s Office
as well as other government offices that contributed in this accomplishment.
The visibly
elated Tacurong City Mayor Lina Montilla also appealed to the city residents to
continue paying taxes because taxes collected are used for development projects
that benefit the people of Tacurong as a whole.
