Suspected carnapper, illegal drug user dies in shootout with Koronadal PNP
KORONADAL CITY - For refusing to surrender and trading shots with lawmen, a man suspected of carnapping a brand newToyota D4D was killed Friday night, police here said.Supt. Barney Condes, Koronadal City police director, identified the suspect as Francis Patricio of Sto Nino, South Cotabato.Condes said Patricio was also involved in robbery hold-up and illegal drug pushing. Investigation showed that Patricio rented the van (MDR-704) on June 26 from Alexander Borja, also a resident of Sto Nino. He told Borja that he will fetch his grandmother in a hospital in Tupi, South Cotabato.But Borja told police Patricio has not returned the vehicle since. His mobile phone could not be reached.This prompted Borja to seek police assistance in Koronadal City PNP which quickly responded.Patritio and thevan was sighted police intelligence agentsinside the Gaisano Grand Mall compound at past 10 p.m. Friday.Condes said Patricio was inside the van when the police arrived.
