Sultan Kudarat drug suspect killed while about to toss grenade at lawmen
ISULAN,
Sultan Kudarat – A drug was killed after he tried, but failed, to
set off a hand grenade toward police officers during anti-drug operation in Bagumbayan,
Sultan Kudarat Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Senior
Supt. Raul Supiter, Sultan Kudarat police director, said the suspect, Gilbert
Golingay, was inside his home in Sitio Lawa, Barangay Saripinang, Bagumbayan
town when the police, armed with search warrant, arrived.
Supiter
said the police were to implement search warrant for illegal drugs and gun
possession against Golingay, a farmer.
But Golingay,
Bagumbayan’s most wanted drug personality, resisted arrest and tried to pull
the safety lever of a hand grenade he was holding.Police
were quick to open fire on him before he can pull the safety pin. Police
found six sachets of suspected illegal drugs, a hand grenade and several
bullets.
Golingay,
Supiter said, had voluntarily showed to police station and admitted he was into
drug pushing during the implementation of Oplan Tok-Hang in Bagumbayan,
Sultan Kudarat.
He
vowed to reform and do away with illegal drugs and illegal activities but
police learned he was back to his old business.
