KORONADAL
CITY - The Philippine Rural Development Project’s P39-M Cassava Granules Production
and Marketing Project turned-over its first wave of farm machineries and
facilities to Polo Samahang Nayon Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SNPOLOMPC) and its
cluster members at SN POLO MPC Office, Barangay Polo, Polomolok, South
Cotabato, Wednesday.

Every
cluster was given one cassava granulator wherein the lead proponent group
already delivered their share to their processing plant, while the four cluster
members namely Pobusilla MPC, San Jose MPC, Self-Reliant MPC, and Topland MPC formally,
received their farm facilities in the turn-over ceremony.

SN
Polo MPC and Topland MPC also acquired one cassava ripper each based in the
value chain analysis (VCA).

Witnesses
in the ceremony and signing of their acknowledgment receipts were
representatives from the of Office of the Provincial Agriculturist at
Provincial and Provincial Project Monitoring and
Implementing Units of South Cotabato and staff from the Regional Project
Coordinating Office 12.

In acceptance speeches of farmer leaders, they underscored
that these farm machines are testaments that the government is true to its
words.

In June, the first ever check for PRDP’s I-REAP component was
handed-over to the LGU South Cotabato, Polo SN MPC and its cluster members
worth P20-M (as part of the P39-M) at South Cotabato Provincial Capitol
Gymnasium.

From that amount, P4.8-M was already downloaded, wherein P3-M
was utilized to purchase equipment and other facilities and the remaining fund
where distributed to cluster members for production support.

Proponent group leaderKaren Daguro reported in an interview that to date, there are already 60 hectares planted since their operation started
in August this year.

We also finished the construction of two vermi-production
plants in SRMPC (Surallah) and here in Barangay Polo for the lead PG, wherein
the production of vermicast is on-going,” she added.

Daguro also stressed out that they are currently implementing
their nursery totaling to 6 hectares (3 hectares each for SN Polo MPC and
SRMPC).

The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Agriculture
Secretary Proceso Alcala, Regional Executive Director Amalia Jayag-Datukan and
the totality of DA, PSO-Mindanao and RPCO 12, and even South Cotabato Governor
Daisy Avance-Fuentes for the joint efforts for them to avail of the project.
