SoCot cops on alert vs. bombers
KORONADAL
CITY - Police in here and in the province of South Cotabato have been placed on heightened alert following a series of bombing incidents that rocked North Cotabato and Cotabato City. Senior
Superintendent Jose Arnaldo Briones Jr, the province’s PNP Provincial Director,
said to prevent any untoward incident,
they have increased their police visibility especially in public places. Even
the Explosive Ordnance Divison (EOD) Team and the K-9 of PNP unit have been
conducting regular inspection in vital establishments in the province. Aside
from intensifying their check point operations in major roads, policemen were
also sent to the streets to educate the public how to ensure their safety. We

report to us any suspicious baggage or persons found in their areas,” Briones
told DXOM FM Monday. Police
authorities in South Cotabato were alarmed after an improvised explosive device
(IED) went off in Kabacan North Cotabato killing a student last week. Two
students were also wounded in Cotabato City after a grenade explosion incident.
An
IED that exploded in a carnival in Mlang, North Cotabato also so killed three
people milling around a billard hall Sunday evening.
