Police intel officer survived ambush in Isulan
KORONADAL CITY - A police officer survived an assassin's bullet Monday night while driving his motorbike on his way home in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, police said.Supt. Joefel Siason, Isulan police chief, identified the victim as a certainPO3 Cabanillas, a police intelligence officer assigned with theSultan Kudarat police provincial office. It appears to be work related, Siason told Happy FM Koronadal in an interview. We are still investigating. Siason said two men riding tandem on a separate motorbike tailed him at past 7 p.m. then opened fire on an unsuspecting police officer.He sustained a gunshot wound on his cheek. Although armed, Cabanillas failed to retaliate.Siason said the gunmen used cal. 45 pistol and 9mm pistol based on the empty shells recovered at the crime scene.Passersby rushed him to the hospital where he is recuperating.
